About Victoria
Northern Words was founded by Dr Victoria Jones, a researcher, educator and learning practitioner based in North Yorkshire.
Victoria’s work sits at the intersection of culture, learning and community. She holds a PhD in the History of Art from the University of Leeds and began her career in academic research and writing, exploring questions of power, voice and visual culture. Alongside her research she has worked in museums, libraries and community education, developing a long-standing interest in how cultural spaces can support thoughtful conversation and shared learning.
Over the past decade Victoria’s professional work has increasingly focused on learning design, organisational development and inclusive practice. She has worked on leadership development and learning programmes within large distributed organisations, designing training initiatives and facilitating group learning for international teams. Her work has also included programme evaluation, equity and inclusion strategy, and the development of communities of practice that support reflective leadership.
Victoria is currently an adult education lecturer and autism trainer, delivering courses for professionals in education, health and social care. This work focuses on translating research and psychological insight into practical understanding, particularly around autistic experience and behaviour.
Northern Words brings together these different strands of experience. The organisation creates retreats, lectures and learning spaces where people can step back from the pace of everyday life, engage with culture and ideas, and spend time thinking together. Some programmes are specifically designed to be welcoming for autistic and other neurodivergent participants, while others are open to anyone who values reflective learning and thoughtful conversation.
Northern Words is an experiment in creating spaces for reflection, culture and meaningful dialogue.
